ALLEGED THREAT TO KILL

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 7th April. Alexander Lawson M'Leod, a clerk, aged 58, who was arrested at Newmarket yesterday morning, appeared at the Police Court charged that on Ist December last he sent to Alma Grey a letter containing threats to kill her sons. Mr. Noble, appearing for the accused, asked that M'Leod lie released on bail. "He is a decent sort of man. I think it's only a joke. Why it's preposterous!" added counsel. "I think he had been to the pictures, and then went home and wrote the letter to his sister-in-law." The Magistrate fixed bail at £100.
