WEDDINGS

The wedding was celebrated at St. Barnabas's Church, Fendalton, Christchurch, recently of Evangeline Anna, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Penlington, Clyde road, Fendalton, and John Edward, older son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hutehings, Island Bay, AVellington. The Bey. F. B. Bedgrave officiated, and Mr. J. F. Buchanan was at the organ. The bride's frock had a longsleeved bodice of ivory faeqnue, from which hung a skirt of frilled georgette. Her veil of Limerick lace was arranged with a small cap, finished with a strand and side-clusters of orange; blossoms. She carried a bouquet of cream and pink flowers. The bridesmaids, Misses May and Isabel Penlington (sisters of the bride), wore early Victorian frocks of pastel blue organdie, madewith deep cape collars trimmed with lemon. Touches of lemon also appoared in the long full skirts. They wore drooping hats of blue felt,, and carried lemonshaded bouquets. Mr. A. Hutehings was best man, and Mr. Cyril Smith groomsman. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Clyde road, Mrs. Penlington wearing a 1 smart frock of navy corded silk, anavy felt hut, and a. skunk stole. She carried a bouquet of roses. Mrs. Hurdlings wore russet brown silk marocain, with hat to tone, and shfi carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. The bride travelled in a frock of red wool crepe do chine with finely-pleated skirt, and collar and cuffs of beigo georgette, a navy tailored coat and a small navy hat. She also wore a skunk stole.

A weddijig that interested many friends took place at the Knqx Presbyterian Church, Lower Hiitl, ; recently, when Marion Armstrong,! younger daughter of the" Rev. J. and Mrs. M' Caw, was married to Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ackroyd, of Petono. The church was charmingly decorated with hydrangeas and crimson dahlias, making an artistic setting for the bridal group. The ceremony was performed by the father of the bride, the Rev. James M'Caw, a?id her brother, the Rev. John M'Caw, assisted by the Hey. J. Crawford M'Caw. The service was choral, another brother of the bride presiding at the organ. The wedding gown was a dainty one. oil parchment satin, with fitting" bodice, arid long sleeves, the skirt being fully flared. The veil was to tone, worn cap fashion, eucircled with pearls ;tnd with clusters of pearls at either side. The bouquet carried was of pink roses, begonias, and maidenhair fern. Miss "Wall (Wellington) was bridesmaid, her gown being of lime floral georgette, the simple picture hat being to tone and the bouquet of contrasting autumn tints. The bride was escorted by hoi' eldest brother, Mr. W. M'Caw, and Mr. Vcrnon Ackroyd was beat man. The wedding reception was held at the church schoolroom, which was also decorated for the occasion. The Rev. J. and Mrs. M'Oaw received the guests. Mrs. M'Osiw was in a tsiilnr-iMit tweed ensemble in brown pud ml (infn, with a toque to tone. Mrs. Ackroyd wort; an

ensemble of blue repp, with a crinoline hat also of blue. Both carried posies to tone with their frocks. Presentations wore made to Mrs. Arnold Ackroyd from the church choir, the Sunday school, and from some of tho young people's societies. The bride's travelling costume was of French blue with a navy Bangkok hat. A wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church recently, when Madge G. North was married to Walter N. Perry, of Christchurch, Mr. Noel Grant (Oamaru) was best man and Miss Ivy M'Gowan bridesmaid. Mr. and Mrs. Perry left by the Makura for a visit to Australia. Their future home will be in Christchurch.
