A moderately intense cyclone developed yesterday in the central Tasman Sea. Cloudiness increased gradually, haze, mist, or even fog being experienced in.many places. By 4 p.m. rain was almost general over tho North Island, and during the night extended to parts of tho South Island. Tho heaviest falls have been recorded in the central provinces, but some were reported also from other parts of the North Island. At stations exposed to a northoast or northerly wind it has at times been strong. A tropical cyclone la centred near Fiji. TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
