NEW PLAY AREA
FOR PETONE CHILDREN
The result oE the appeal he had mnde to, business firms for funds for a children's play area in Petonc was announced by Councillor V. A. Noble at the meeting of the Petone Borough Council last ni^'ht. The contributions he had received, totalliiif €138 Us. were as follows:---Gen-erals Motors. £52; W. D. and H. 0. Wills, £45; Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Co.. £25; Lever Bros., £5 !>.s; Gear Co., £5; "The Dominion," £3.35; "Hutt and T'etone Chronicle," £2 2s; Cook and Son, £1 Is. The council passed a hearty vole . of thanks to.all who had contributed and to Councillor Xoble foi- his work iv the matter. It -was left to the ■Reserves Committee to choose the location of the new play area, which will. probably be in the lxccrention Ground. The work is to be expedited as an unemployment relief job, and a £2 for £1 subsidy has already been applied-for.
