TEDDY IN TOWN

Teddy saved up all his pennies for a long time, so that he. could have a : day in town. One day when Teddy looked in his money bos he found that he had one pound, so he went to his mother and told her. Sho said that he could go to town- the first fine day. The next day Teddy awoke- very early, and. jumping out of .bed, went outside to find the sun shining and the birds singing, lie went to his mdther and asked if ho might go to town. "Yes!" said mother. She had niado him a nice new suit; Teddy set off. •' • Peter and' Gerda waved to him from the windows, and Bess, the cow,'mooed good-bye from the'gate. " 'Way there! 'Way there!" a voice shouted in Teddy's ears, and before ho knew what he' was doings he was pushed over by a trolley of luggage. When Teddj had picked himself up he found his new hat was quite spoiled, and he cried a little. Whon he arrived in the town the roads were very busy, and he grew rather frightened. Then a kind policeman took him acrosß the streot. Teddy then went to a restaurant to havo somo lunch. He asked if he could have some mixed. cakes, and a nice drink with foamy, bubbles on the top. Teddy ate three cakes and finished all the drink. He then went to a toy shop, arid said: . . ■' "What lovely toys I Can I have them all for five shillings!" "Whero do you come from!" asked the shopkeeper. "The country," answered Teddy. The shopkeeper laughed and sold Teddy a few jolly toys. ' ■ Teddy arrived home tired, but happy.
