WESTBROKE DISQUALIFIED

Following an inquiry into the eligibility of Wcstbroke, winner of the Waikato Hunt Club's Maiden Hunters'i Steeplechase, a special committee decided to disqualify the horse,.the winning stake, £110, being' awarded to Cullgie, Marita and Spalupin taking second and third stakes respectively. Awamutu, Wcstbroke was ridden by F. j Baker, winning comfortably. After1 the races it was found that Westbroko was ineligible. He had won five races in Wellington Province from 1924 to 1926, three of tho wins as a three-year-old, being owned then by Mr. C. E. Elgar, of Featherston. At the inquiry, • Mr. Storey stated that lie bought the horse for £15 in November last year, it being described as a "dud" at the sale held just previously at Ohaupo. Ho was assured when he bought Westbroke that ho was a maiden. The inquiry was the result of a protost lodged by H. Jones, of Cambridge^ owner of Cullgie. ■ .'.''!
