(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BOTOKUA, This Day. The Whakatane home-made aeroplane of Mr. I. Alison crashed yesterday at Eotorua. A first flight with a minimum load was successful, but on a second trial flight with a capacity load the 'plane just cleared the 'ground : and f -ices. Continuing across the main Whakatane road Mr. Alison found that he was unable to rise," and in attempting to find a landing in a paddock one of tho wings touched the tea tree, tilting the machine and spinning it round. The pilot was flung into the scrub unhurt. The machine dived into the bank of a small creek and was completely smashed. A large number of spectators had gathered to witness the trial, and they were greatly relieved when the news came back of the'pilot's safety.
