FORESTALLING GANDHI

DELHI, 27th Marelu Gandhi and his followers are likely to be given little opportunity of breaking tho Salt Act as part of their'campaign of civil disobedience, fbr the Government employees and hundreds of labourers, who are guarded by police, are engaged in destroying the salt crystals which are lying on the seashore at Danmi, tho spot where Gandhi proposes to inaugurate hia campaign by gathering salt without payment of revenue. The police and labourers arc boycotted by the villagers in tho neighbourhood and have to journey ten miles to procure food. Largo forces of police arc concentrating at Jalalpur where Gandhi is due to arrive in a few-days. Importance is attached to tho sudden departure of Sir Frederick Sykes, Governor of Bombay, for Delhi to discuss with tlie Viceroy the future action of the Bombay Government in regard to Gandhi,,
