LODGE MEETINGS
Island Bay Lodge, No. 07, U.A.0.D., registered a. good attendance at its last meeting. A.D. Bro. F. Twist presided, and official visits were received from D.P. Bro. A: J. Ogden and A.D. Bro. Smith and members of Coronation Lodge. Notification was received from Grand Lodge that Bro. :H. J. Crewes, P.A., P.T., had been appointed District President lor the ensuing twelve months. D.P. Bro. Ogden installed P.A. Bro. A. T. Carter as 0.G., Bro. C. J. Sherwood as 1.G., and Bro. C. Moeller: as V.A.B. New members were initiated and", further propositions for membership were received. P.A. Bio. F. Kuch was master of ceremonies. It was reported that the monthly social-evenings inaugurated by the lodge were proving very successful. The lodge decided to enter for the R.A.C. competition, which will take place early in April. Bro. E. Berry, N.G., presided at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, on Tuesday evening. Two candidates were initiated. The N.G. extended hearty congratulations to Bro. R. K. Couper on his election as the Grand Master of the Wellington district, and also to Bro. A. T. ■ Wainwright on his re-election to the Management Committee; lodge honours . were also given. The lodge delegates presented their reports of the district conference, held at Lower Hutt. An interesting report from the secretary, Bro. A. Guise, disclosed that the funeral benefits on account of two recently-deceased brethren amounted to over £80 each. Through the accumulation of surpluses these brethren had for years past been relieved from any contribution, and the relatives had drawn over £50 in increased funeral benefits. ! The fortnightly meeting of Loyal bister Wallis Lodge, M.U., was held recently, Sister Parnell. N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Two candidates were initiated, Sister Craddock, P.G., giving the lecture charge. Sisters Tobin and Corcoran gave reports on the recent district conference. Four sisters were reported on the sick list. During the evening Sister Parnell, N.G., presented Sister Couper with a posy, and congratulated her on being the^wife of ■ the newly-elected District Grand Master. The quarterly meeting ot Loyal lnrarua Lodge of Past Grands was held at Eketahuna on Tuesday. In the unavoidable absence of the president, P.G. Bro. L. W. Kitchen occupied the chair. There was a good attendance from both lodges. Reports from-the District Conference were received. It was decided to exted an invitation to the Wairarapa Lodge to visit this lodge in the near future. Presentations of certificates and emblems were made to Bros. Kendall and Watts. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Manga-j tainoka Lodge, M.U., was held recently, Bro. F. J. Martin, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. P.G. Bro. H. A. Bick gave a lengthy report on the recent District Conference. The business transacted at the conference was of a very important nature in view of the approaching Dominion Conference to be held at Palmcrstou North next month. Bro. Bick also reported on the visit-to Danncvirkc, at which annual meeting there were over 100 members present,1" including twenty from Pahiatua. The Grand-Master of Hawkes Bay and his deputy were present, and both gave illuminating addresses on lodge matters. A very pleasant evening was brought to a close with dancing-
