AUCKLAND, This Day
A large number of benefactions to religious and philanthropic institutions were arranged for under tho will of the late John Marshall, of Eemucra. The estate is valued at £60,000. Mr. Marshall was born in Albert street in March, IS4B. He was the son of one of the founders of Auckland, and known throughout his life as a generous patron of many forms of sport. The sum of £2000 has been left to the Presbyterian Church for the purpose of establishing and maintaining one or more scholarships for the education of theological students of tho church. After several private bequests have been satisfied, the residuary estate is to be divided into 29 equal shares, and disposed of in the following proportions: Six parts to tho Jubilee Institute for the Blind, five to the Knox Homo for Incurables, five to Auckland Young Men's Christian Association, two to the Salvation Army for its work in tho city of Auckland, three to the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children (Auckland branch), for its work in the city, two to the Young "Women's Christian Association, one to the Auckland Hospital for the purchase of toys and comfor for child patients, three to the Auckland Presbyterian Social Service Association, one to the St. John Ambulance Association, and one to the Brjitish and Foreign Bible Society.
