BRITISH SHIPBUILDERS
RATIONALISATION POLICY
ECONOMY IN PRODUCTION
LONDON, 27th February.
Elimination of redundant and obsolete' shipyards and more economical working through concentrated production and financial assistance to ship--builders are among the. avowed objects of National Shipbuilders Security, Limited, which has been registered with a nominal capital of £10,000, with power to borrow to three millions.
The promoters point out that consolidation has boon in progress steadily for the past two years, but further concentration is imperative. Warship building, which beforo tho war ■represented 25 per cent, of the total tonnage, was now a mere one-seventh.
Britain maintains supremacy in the industry, but rationalisation is necessary to place it permanently on a sound basis. Most of the big yards favour the scheme.
