Sea Page
SMALL THINGS To-night 1 luanl to swoop down upon my Fairy Ring and gather you all up, and speed away to the beach .. . . any beach . , . and leave our Ring deserted and alone in its magic glade. For isn't it our Sea Page to-night? . . . And wouldn't you all just adore the green ivitchery of the sea by moonlight? Because we ivouldn't slay with the black and the silver of the moonlight, but go ivading in . . and in . . hand-in-hand for company, and for the bewildering strangeness of it. And by and by we ivould make friends with all the Finny-Fishy Folk, so tliat Sea Nymph could dance (sideivays) with the Deep Sea Crab, and Sailor-Boy a hornpipe with Davy Jones, and Rippling Water a weaving, waving dance with the iveaving, ivaving seaiveed. We ivould have a Fairy Ring there, under, the sea, for just one precious, shiny night. . . .'
Into the sea-caves, then, for a peep at Ike Shadowy, lovely things that sway in the dark corners ... and out again for hide-and-seek ivith the little, darting shrimps. . . But they are 100 quick and 100 cunning for us and Littlest is getting drowsy, and our own Fairy Ring is calling .. . . calling . . _. So away back to our glade again —— up from the sea, and away . . . away! --But we brought some of the sea's magic ivitli us, and scattered it, like the sea's spray, all over our Ring 10-nighl. That is why fishes crept into the heading, and mer-babies into the pictures, and a stalely ship or two came sailing straight into our ■ Page by accident. The only picture the Sea left alone ivas your special painting picture, dear ones- one for the Postie this time, and for me. Like Pollyannds funny little Sea-Sprite,. I send you sea-love , . , a whole ocean of it! -.■•■ '.'[■■■ • d-^--.
