A COOK IMPRISONED
One month's imprisonment was the penalty imposed on Duncan Johnston, aged 56, who pleaded •• guilty in the. Magistrates Court to-day to having obtained money and goods to the value of £10 18s at Fentherston. by-means of-a false pretence. Chief-Detective Lopdell said that Johnston had been working in the Featherstoti district as a cook. He started on a drinking bout, and- issued a cheque on a bank at which he had no account. ■As a result he obtained goods nncl money. Johnston had a list of previous convictions,
