"The only discrepancy between the British and American views on naval parity is a minor matter of 30,000 cruiser tons out of a total of 2,400,000," said General Dawes at a dinner given by the London district branch of the Institute of Journalists. He described the objective of the naval conversations as the abolition lof competitive'construction and the reduction of fleets to a defensive minimum.
Mr. MacDbnald, in a message, said that none were more powerful to strengthen or weaken the hands of the peacemaker than the Press.
