While an anti-cyclone has been moving gradually on to northern Naw Zealand a* series or low-pressure waves has been passing In the south. Southerlies.. gave .place: tq westerlies and northerlies on Sunday, and althoush the winds were fresh and squally at times the weather wa3 mainly fair with mild temperatures. Since Sunday night, however,-, a:- rather Intent* depression which has been approaching :the South Island has caused north-westerly winds to become strong, about • Cook and Tbveaux Straits. There has also been an; increase In cloud in western districts and .rain at placts in Westland. ' - .■;■■;
