The centre of the ; anticyclone has' moved to the east of the North 'Island, and there has been a considerable fall in-barometers since last night in southern New Zealand, with the approach of an intense depression over the southern Tasman Sea. There has been much cloud in evidence, but otherwise the weather has been mainly fair, mild and pleasant. Some scattered rain, however, has fallen from Auckland northwards, and, ' this morning, it was raining at many places In the western- dis-i tricts of the South Island. -North-east sto northerly winds have ruled, and hare become strong in places, more especially in the far North and in and southwards-of Cook Strait.
