This Week. The Waikato Meeting will be concluded to-day, the Marlborough Meeting will be held on Friday and Saturday, and the Marton and Oamaru Meetings on Saturday. Nominations for the Wanganul Meeting close to-night. Egmont handicaps . are due to-morrow, and acceptances close on Friday. Handi- I caps for the Great Northern and general entries for the Auckland Winter Meeting are due on Friday. Acceptances for the Marlborough Meetjj^ close to-night. Marlborough Penalties. The Marlborough Racing Club has the fixed penalty system in operation for its meeting, but the conditions are not included in the programme published officially. Ronaki, Miss Mercia, Dainty Ways, and Maui will all have increased poundage if they race at Blenheim this week on account of their successes at Nelson on Saturday. The Marton Meeting. ' Providing course scratchings do not reduce the fields, the Marton Club should Jiave a ■ first-class winter ' meeting next Saturday. The club decided this season to drop one day in the spring and be first in- the field with the steeplechase fixtures, and the acceptances would suggest that the experiment will prove a success. However, this club always appears to have quite a number of complimentary acceptors, and the fields dwindle down on race day. With only seven events, the Dash Hack Handicap can be divided if necessary, and thus provide another race so far as the totalisator is concerned. Nucleus looks to be well treated in the Open, Hurdles, and no doubt will start favourite. Puwhei-o should be fit to carry his 11.10 in the Marton Steeplechase, and the distance will suit him. Matu, Mountain Crag, and Hollycombe are others who may show up. Quite a useful field should' go to the post in the Open Handicap, which is headed by Nukumai, the star winter performer of several seasons. Manly, Royal Damon, and Ruanui look a likely trio in the middle of the handicap. Paleta is due to make his reappearance in the Flying Handicap, in which Keddar and Limited have good handy racing weights. Odds and Ends. H. Doyle had a fruitless trip to Nelson with Fee Simple, who was hurt riii the boat on the way across the Strait. Fee Simple was started only once, but was unable to show his real form, and was brought home on Saturday night. Shining Star, formerly owned by the Palmerston North trainer, H. Doyle, was repurchased by him at the Nelson Meeting on Saturday. A. D. Webster returned home on Saturday from Nelson with Borsalene and First Acre, both of whom are engaged at Marton. First Acre has never looked better, but it may be some time before he is ready to give of his very best. J. Ayres brought Last Crust home from Nelson on Saturday. The black quite failed to race up, to his Masterton form. Honour returned home to Riccarton from Sydney last week. T.. Green is booked already to ride him in the next A.J C Derby. .. x Vivo and Airtight are reported to be jumping well in their work at Hawera. Llanore is said to be in great order at present and putting plenty of dash into her work at Hawera.
