Mr. Walter Nash, the official Labour candidate for the Mayoral office, is national secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, and has twice contested the Hutt seat in the House of Representatives. He has, been resident in Now Zealand since 1909, and before being elected to his present official position was a member of the executive of the Now Zealand Labour Party for some years. In 1920 he represented the party'at the International Socialists Conference at Geneva, and some months ago he was quo of the representatives of New Zealand at the Pan-'. Pacific Relations Conferenco at Honolulu. Mr. Nash is a'prominent 1 member of the Church of England Men's Society. He was also a ; member of the Commission which inquired into the incidence of rating in Otaki and other country boroughs. „
