BOTANICAL GARDENS POPULAR
A very largo number of people are visiting tlio Botanical Gardens this JDcistcr, taking advantage of the last opportunity of going through the begonia house before it is closed down that the house may be turned over for the off season, use as a. propagating house. Though additions have recently been made to the house, it is still none too big, and Wellington is certainly at a disadvantage, as compared with tho other main centres, in not having distinct propagating and display houses.
The autumn show in the outdoor beds is still very fine, particularly of fibrousfooted begonias and Marguerite carnations. This may be said to be the last of tin; fine show of the year, for immediately after Easter a, great deal of. rebedding work commences, the plauts which- have done their little bit being token out and replaced by primroses, wallflowers, anemones, ranunculas, for-get-me-nots, daffodils, and other late winter and early spring display plants. To-morrow and on Monday, no doubt, many will spend their afternoons very; pleasantly at the Gardens.
