CANADA'S ATTITUDE

QUESTIONS TO BE SETTLED

NO HASTY MOVE IN VIEW

Australian I'ress Association.

WASHINGTON, 27th March. The Canadian Legation to-day clarified its position in connection with the I'm Alone case. It emphasised that it was not defending the ruin-runners, but it was determined to have all questions of jurisdiction and rights under treaties and international law definitely settled. As a result of the incident, Canada hopes . the United States will find there is no basis for resisting the demands for satisfaction, but if necessary Canada will press the case to international adjudication by arbitration. Legation 1 officials asserted that there would be no hasty move made, and that it would be a long time before any definite step was taken. It is pointed out that at present the question is decidedly in the "factfinding" stage.
