THE WEATHER
CHANGEABLE, WITH SHOWERS'
The depression which has caused the' unpleasant weather of this week has moved very slowly on. its eastward course, and a number of secondaries have appeared in its southern portion. By this morning, however, it has crossed the Dominion, and, except on the East Coast between Bank's Peninsula and the East Cape, the winds have backed everywhere to south-west or southerly. A cyclonic centre formed in the northern part of the depression, and the North Island has experienced general rain, with many heavy falls. In the South Island there was little rain in. Canterbury or Marlborough, but somo heavy falls were recorded along tho ranges, and in the far south there has been a considerable drop in temperature. .The forecast is for freshening west to south winds, reaching gale force in places. The weather is likely to be changeable, with scattered showers, at first mainly in tho western districts, but later extending to the East Coast. An improvement is expected later on the West Coast of tho South Island. Temperatures will be cold.
