STRAND THEATRE.
"Tho Womau Disputed," featuring Norma Talmadge, will enter upon its second week of screening at the Strand Theatre to-night.- She may be said by her perfect acting to dominate the picture, although every one of tho principals gives of his best. Opening in an unusual fashion, the story deals with tho redemption of a woman who is saved from her former mode of life by tho kindness of two men, one of whom subsequently wins her love. Although tho theme is a daring and unconventional one, the restrained presentation and tho flawless performances of the principals make it both convincing and wholesome. In tho role of tho woman who meets her salvation only to sacrfice it for her country, Norma Talmadge conveys her real worth as ail emotional actress. Although her past performances have long since raised her to a position among tho leading players of the screen, her characterisatiou in this film places her on a higher pedestal than ever before, and' must serve to make her enviable position even more secure. Second only to her portrayal is tho acting of Gilbert Roland and Arnold Kent, as the two friends. Although they have been responsible for much fine work in tho past they have risen to greater heights in this picture.
