Wellington has not had much "garden party weather' .'this summer, and with two siueh boisterous days in tho middle of i.his week, it was really fortunate that, yesterday was fmo enough for Mrs. ]). C. Peacock to give her annual paity in. aid of kindergarten funds. As it was tho gardens of "Dalgarucii," Mrs. Peacock's homo in Bawhiti terrace, wove well crowded with friends of the kindergarten movement in Wellington, and although the storm had sadly battered many of the beautiful flowers for which this garden is so well known, enough were spared to leave the beds well stock and gay, and in these and the ornamental shrubs about tho grounds, tho varied rock plants and fine begonias in the arbour, visitors found much to interest and admire. Many, too, found the long veranda X.with its. great hanging baskets of begonias and excellent place to rest and •enjoy the-view over Kelbuni, Park and out across tjie harbour. The lawns had sprung to greenness in a night, and the prospect was of the pleasantest. , A delightful afternoon tea was served in the hall, drawing-room, and billiard-room, and also on the verandah, members of the kindergarten council and young friends' of the Misses Jossie and Molly Peacock, who helped their mother in entertaining her guests, giving much ■.assistance-in this way. Mrs. Peacock wore a frock of-soft green, with a velour hat to match, rope of crystal beads, and tailed fur cape. R. -Blanchard will address the.first.meeting for the year of the Kelbuni League of Mothers. The meeting will be held in the Presbyterian School Hall, Earoa road, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday,: 13tU March. A hearty welcome will be given, to. all old and new-members,-and a happy afternoon is anticipated. The first; meeting of the Seatbun League of Mothers will be held'in the" Masonic Ball; Soatoun, on 13th March,at 2.30 p.m., when Dr. Paget will speak on pre-natal'influence. The branch is looking forward to another year's happy progress, and hopes for a splendid opouing meeting with many new members. , . Y.M.O.A. Ladies' Auxiliary. There was a full attendance of members :at the monthly meeting of the Y;M.C.A. , Ladies' Auxiliary, Mrs. B. P. Hay (president) in the chair. Four new members were elected. The business was mostly of a formal character, much time being spent in discussing and finalising the arrangements for tho garden party to be held at the president's residence-at the Lower Hutt on fciaturday, 16th March; It was decided to invite the Mayoress (Mrs. G. A. Troup), askjng her to open the garden party. Stalls were allotted to members of the auxiliary. The proceeds from the function will be added to the furnishing fund being raised by the ladies in- connection- with the renovation of the V.M.C.A. building. Invitations Issued. Invitations have been issued by the principal, staff, and pupils of the Wellington Girls' College for tho annual Hports, which will be held at Kolburn I Park j&ext Thurndas.

In furtherance of their effort in aid of the new manse funds, the Ladies' Associations of- the Presbyterian Church, Wadcstown, will present on Wednesday evening next in the Parish Hall, Pitt street, an entertainment of vocal, instrumental, elocutionary items, with a sketching item by Mr. Watkins, and a dance by pupils of Aliss CarwellCookc. A high standard of tho entertainment is assured by the following additional artists, who have Idndly tendered their services: Mrs. Wilfred An- , draws, Mrs. Doctor, Misses Lilla Hill, i L. The Senior Cadet Ball Committee is making an early start this year, and arrangements have again been made to hold the fourth annual ball in tho Garrison Hall on: Monday, 3rd Juno (King's Birthday). A number of Community Club hostesses have been asked to assist, and a meeting is to be held shortly to discuss ways and moans 1 of. giving patrons a pleasurablo evening such as they will long remember.
