A WORTHY CITIZEN
The following resolution wa3 passed by the' Civic League:—
"The executive and council.of*, tho Civic League: join with their fellow citizens in expressing their deep sorrow and'regret at the demise of Sir Charles Skcrrett. From the initiation of the organisation he was a. very good friend to' the league, and to its member. His interest in civic welfare, we found, was very deep, and-at all times he'most generously lent his valuable advice and assistance tp tho organisation in every direction' that might make for the advancement of the city. Problems which affected citizens' welfaro which had v.' legal bearing were laid before him at his pleasure, and he was ever ready to give the benefit of his specialised knowledge and broad human sympathy . towards the betterment of his fellow-citizens. Apart' from our own organisation, we have evidence that tho late Sir Charles Skorrett, as a citizen, was keenly interested in the social institutions, of our community, and he
could .be..placed as. one. of the- first, of Wellington • citizens for his activity and wisdom-in all progressive movements^ "
