The demand, for British coal, which has shown a steady increase in the last few wooks, both in foreign countries and throughout Great Britain, has increased activity in the coal-producing centres, which aro moro busy than for a considerable period. The severity of tho weathor on tho Continent and at Homo has greatly stimulated this tendency, and domestic coal and stoam coal are being procured in larger quantities than for many months. A general betterment in the industrial position throughout Britain is a further factor in the situation.
