On 14th December the Town Clerk wrote stating that the construction of the highlevel footpath in Tavistock road would be put in hand early this year. It was reported that the, work had not been done, and on the motion of Mr. W. P Sherwood, it was resolved to urge the City Council to expedite the work and also construct the footpaths and surface the road in Buckingham street. Mr. R. Leslie Jones stated that the council had tar-seaied Endeavour street, and had promised to seal Yule and Reso lution streets during the present season. If it was not done within a very short time, he assured the meeting that the eixty ratepayers who had recently signed a petition to the council pressing the immediate need of the work w.ould move strongly'in the matter, as the existing conditions were deplorable. , It was decided to write to the Town Clerk pressing for an immediate start on these streets, more especially Yule street, which, it was considered, bore most of the heavy traffic. A request will also be made for the sealing of Freyberg street, and all streets running north and south. Several other requests will also bo made, including repairs to Wha street, and alii street interiections from Coutts street to the beach, which «re badly in need of attention, the roads being very much worn and scored. The footpaths at the junction of Freyberg^street, Queen's drive, and Lerwiok terrace" also need immediate attention. ■ ■.'■•■,.

The City^.Gouncjl'g attention./is..a.lsb- to be drawn'to the drainage from the men's sheds being''used, as a. paddling "pool by young children, and a request made for efficient drainage to carry the water away, also for the diversion of the channel drainage to the far end of the beach towards the rocks. At present this drainage is carried on to the beach through unsightly broken piping, and forms another unhealthy but popular paddling pool on one of the most frequented parts of the beach.
