AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT

It was recently stated from Auckland that twenty-live Indians from Fiji had arrived in the- Dominion in. one week. It is explained officially that this is not to be taken as an indication that there- lias been any relaxation of tho restrictions in regard to tho admission of Indians into tho country. In fact, tho opposite is tho case, the Government having officially intimated that it has no intention' to issuo permits for Indians coming from Fiji, to settle in New Zealand. Howovcr, permits aro issued for visits to the Dominion for periods not exceeding six months.
