To-day's sitting ol the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. T. B. M'Ncil, S.M. v
Two iirst offenders for drunkenness were each fined the amount of their bail, 10s.
A fireman, James Cope, nged 32, was fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, for his fourth'offence of drunkenness.
John Weir, aged,23, and Jack Summers, aged 20, were charged with having broken and entered by night .Thavley aivi SutherlaneUs shop in Molesworth street and stolen money and articles of a total value of £34. On the application of ChiefDetective Ward, they were remanded until Wednesday. A remand until Wednesday was also applied for and granted in the ease of Harry Denton, a motor-driver, a^ed 28, who was charged with having committed a serious offence. Bail was allowed on condition that tho accused reports daily to the police. Suppression of the name was refused.
