PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
The screen Torsion of Hex Heath's popular iicvjl, "The .Michigan Kid," opens a week's seasui' at the Paramount Theatre this evening, with full orchestral matinee to-morrow at 2.30. Conrad Nagel, "Hie main character, has never appeared to better advantage than as the famous Michigan Kid, notorious, .honest gambler in Alaska during the gold rush of ISUS. Keuee Adoree gives a sincere portrayal of the Kiri from the States who comes to Alaska for tile purpose of marrying a boyhood sweetheart, who lias become a rotter. The story carries the' audience through the exciting days of the gold rush—through dance halls, gambling dons.the boat from the States, over ChHlmot I'ass to the mines in the interior and back down a rasing mountain stream by canoe through a forestdivouring holocaust. Lloyd Whitlock is splendid as the weakling who In the mad rush for wealth is driven to theft and cheating. Arlolp!) Milar and Fred Ksmcltou am fine characters, while the three children who play the leading characters In their youth are delightful. A noteworthy feature of the supporting programme is the second "fcaturetto" of Series 3 of "New Greater Collegians," which star George Lewis, Dorothy Gulliver, Churchill Knss, Eddie riillllps, and the other favourites. This week's
".lutiior Jewel" is entitled "Calford Versus Kedskins." and is well up to the best standard
attained to date. A supporting programme is coupled with Orchestra Paramount. Box pinna are available at Bristol, Begg's, and Utility (next to theatre).
