DOGS FOR BYRD
QUARANTINE PROPOSAL
Twenty Alaskan dogs for the. Byrd expedition are arriving at Auckland'by the Niagara in charge of Mr. Taylor, who is a certified pilot aviator as well as a dog driver. Mr. E. Gr. Brophy has arrived in Wellington to see if he can arrange to have the dogs quarantined at Dunedin instead of at Auckland. After' he lias seen Ministers on that subject, Mi-. Bropliy will go to Auckland, to meet and instruct Mr. Taylor. There eighty-one dogs already on the ice, and with the two taken by the Eleanor Boiling and twenty now en route, the full pack at the disposal of Commander Byrd will number 103.
