Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, leaves for Auckland to-morrow.
Dr. E. Kidson, Government MoteoTologist, left for Auckland by the Limited express last night.
Mr. D. A. Strong, Senior Inspector at Schools, returned to-day from a visit to Australia. He was accompanied by Mrs. Strong.
Mr. Leon Harris, factory representative of the Auburn Automobile Company, is in Wellington, and leaves for the South Island shortly.
. Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., formerly of Wanganui,. made, his first appearance on the Wellington Bench yesterday.
Lieutenant-Colonel 13. Bissell, late Medical Officer at Burma, stationed at Rangoon, was a passenger by the Waiotapu, which arrived at Lyttelton on Monday from the East.
Mr. P. Adeane has resigned from the office of secretary of the Auckland Football Association owing to pressure of business duties. Mr. S. R. Massam lias been appointed his. successor.
A United Press Association cablegram from Sydney states that Dr. E. I\. D'Atb, who has been appointed Professor of Pathology at Diinedin University, sails by,the Tahiti for-"- New Zealand to-day. He has received the highest praise for his work in this capacity at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.••
Dr. and Mrs. Percy Herring arrived in Auckland by the TJlimavoa on Tuesday, and have gone to Rotqrua. Dr. Herring is one of New Zealand's most distinguished scholars. His boyhood was spent on his father's run, the Alford Estate, in Canterbury. ■ Ho entered Canterbury College and rapidly attained distinction, both in the "medical and scholastic world. He is, and has been for many years, principal of St. Andrew's University, in Scotland.
