DOMINION CONFERENCE

DUNEDIN, This Day,

The annual Conference of tho Dominion Workers', Educational Association commenced last evening and concluded this morning.' Delegrates wore present from all centres.

The annual report stated that during tho year tho association organised 182 classes'^ with G692 students. It urged that it was in tho rural areas that the association must justify its existence, for there tho people were out of touch with any direct educational force. It was for the Government to provide there the best facilities for development.

The remit that the apportionment of all State and University grants be mads on the basis of xiopulation in the various University districts instead of equally among the four districts was lost.

Professor T. A. Hunter resigned the editorship of "The Highway," the association's magazine. The conference recommended tho Dominion Council to consider tho advisability of appointing a W.E.A. tutor as editor.

Miss Webster and Messrs. Milner and T. Brasch were appointed delegates to represent the conference at the conferonce •of the .World Association for adult education at Cambridge, England, in August. . .

The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. II: D. Acland; treasurer^ Mr. A. H. Shrubshall; secretary, Mr. G' Manning. .'..•" It was.- decided to holdtho next conference where the University; Council' meets. :
