Conference at Marto.n brought: with it a series . of concluding. ■. sessions, so despite the beautiful weather any thought of moving further a-field for a. picnic was. out of the question, but many availed themselves- of'"the swimming : baths and tennis; courts between the meetings. .. : ■-;..] ,•-■, .■-■■■' •."■.-■'■ ■.• The recommendations Jiroin.-tlie Y.W. C.A. Federation of Senior. Clubs were.'; received in the morning and thoroughly discussed. In the afternoon the statement of income "and expenditure for the eleven" months. ended 30th November,. 1928, was presented .by.. Miss C. Holmes,- lion, treasurer, .and: duly moved: and adopted. *',: ". : . . , It'was agreed ..that a ■eoiiventioh.be held in.'September, 1929,' as many responsible members find it difficult to' at-: tend the summer .convention. It,.was emphasised that each .association be represented on. the ■ National ' Board by two niembers,..one of whom must -be a younger woman actively ' engaged iii programme activities in that centre.' In order that New. Zealand;.might vbe; brought into line with the rest of the world regarding interest in industrial..' problems, it was;:.;decide_d;"'tb' ask the present Duriediiv Industrial Committee, to act as National Industrial Committee and keep in'"touch with the local units to be formed. ' , ' .'' .
The following'greetings-w.e.re. received from overseas: —Mrorld's Oifice staff, .Y.W.C.A. of Wales, Finland, Denmark, [Panama, Czecho-Slovakia, and others.
After tho usual votes of thanks the business sessions'were concluded.
The closing banquet was in the hands of a capable committee representative of all tho associations,; with Miss Jean Bcgg, of Auckland, as genial "toastmistress," The tables were .formed in the shape of a triangle, tho decorations being most effective. ..All toasts were accompanied by musical honours, some causing much merriment. The closing of the conference took the form of a service of song, followed by an impressive a,ddress by Miss Ethel Law. Within the next few hours the delegates wore homeward bound, each ons carrying with her a new vision of the purpose of tho association not only in New Zealand but throughout the world.
