THE WINTER SHOW
THE OPENING DAY i WEDNESDAY WEEK "I wish to disabuse the minds of any who may have gathered that the opening day of the Winter Show has been postponed. The Show will definitely bo opened on the 19th, Wednesday week," said Mr. E. H. Nimmo, chairman of the executive, in conversation with a "Post" reporter to-day. 30verything was very well ahead, said Mr. Nimmo, the iloor spaco was marked off and to-day the construction of stands and stand flooring was commenced. The building was the largest of its type in one floor in the Dominion, possibly in Australasia; altogether there were about three and a half acres of i'oor. space. Judging from tho inquiries for space and from many other inquiries from people in outside centres intending to visit tho Show, there was not much doubt that the Show this year would easily constitute a record. Mr. Nimmo mentioned that arrangements for side-shows were going along well; tho "dodgems" had arrived from England and wore being erected. The Show would be opened by His Excellency, Sir Charles Fergusson, tho public opening being preceded by a luncheon to which two hundred guests, were being invited, including the Prime Minister and members of Cabinet, local members of Parliament, Mayors, and representatives of all Wellington district local bodies. "Wo look to tho peoplo of this district to regard this really big venture in the same light that thoso who have promoted it have done, to give- it their full pa'-oi agj and support. The greater Winter Show idea was conceived and is being carried into effect by a group of men whose aim is to further tho interests of tho Capital City and its surroundings districts. It is to the advantage of all to rally round and to carry tho project on to full success. That such support will be given wo have no doubt at all."
