S.P.C.A. MEETING

There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of tho Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held on Tuesday, Mr. G. Mitchell presiding. The secretary reported that minor improvements had been effected to the railway yards, and that they were now in satisfactory order from the society's point .of view. The inspector reported on a number of eases, and the steps taken by him were approved. Collections amounting to £il 7s were acknowledged. The treatment of baby calves prior to slaughtering was considered, and it was decided to approach other societies with a view to taking united action to improve conditions in this matter.
