CHARGE OF THEFT
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post,") AUCKLAND, This Day. Augustus Henry Francis Wisucsky (42), a railway employee, was charged this morning with stealing £353 9s 2d from the Mercer Town Board. Ho pleaded not guilty, reserved hitf defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The charge related to a period April, 1924, to 2nd August, 1928. Hugh Wylie, audit inspector, gave evidence that ho had experienced great difficulty in persuading the accused to submit his books for audit. Wisnosky was a signalman, which made it very difficult to get into touch with him. Defieienecs in tho neighbourhood of £300 had been found, the accused expressing groat surprise, and saying he knew there was a shortage, but thought it amounted to £40 or £50. He admitted taking a few pounds when short of money, but claimed that he had always repaid the amounts from his quarterly salary. Reginald Aylett, chairman of tho Mercer Town Board, said tho accused was clerk and treasurer from 1922. The acused was released on bail.
