The other day in London an old Jady was seen to pick up a piece of coal, put it, to her lips, ai\<l place it carefully in her handbag. This was i'ov luck. There are people who keep pieces of coal permanently about their persons. If coal is lucky, May-blossom is unlucky in England, where strong men have been known to shudder when their innocent children bring opvays into the house.
