LABOUR WINS HALIFAX Australian Presi Association—United Serrlc* LONDON, 14th July. The Halifax by-election, rendered necessary through the retirement of the Right Hon. J. H. W'dtley, Speaker of the House of Commons, resulted as fol-' lows:— Alderman Longbottom (Labour) 17,536 Major Barnes (Liberal) , 12,585 Major Crossley (Conservative) . 10,864 At the General Election Mr. Whitley ' was returned unopposed.
