HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT
,!» A circular letter from the Palmerston North Borough Council regarding hospital management was received by I the Makara County Council . yestcrI day. The letter stated that the .council 1 had decided that there was urgent need I for concerted action on the part of all contributing bodies in* the matter, <if approaching the Government with a request that the whole system of control be revised with the object of definitely defining the future policy of public hospital revenue and expenditure. Regarding the constitution of Hospital Boards, t'ne Palmcrston Noith Council was also of the opinion that the Hospital and Charitable Aid Institutions Act should bo amended to enable city, county, and borough councils to have direct representation thereon, and it therefore asked the Makara Council ,to earnestly consider the matters mentioned. Mr. E. Windley (chairman)- said ho thought the Makara Council should support the Palmcrston North Council's requests. It was "a burning question," and there was no end in sight with the present system. Councillor B. Mexted said a conference might relieve the position, and the- chairman's motions that the Palmerston North Council's suggestions be supported, and that Councillor Dunbar Sloane be the Makara Council's representative on tho deputation, were cavried.
