John Gilbert again proves his ability as a ?tar in "Twelve Miles Out," to be shown finally to-night at the King's Theatre. The story Js one of modern piracy, and as It develops, one leaves the sea to visit the New York Bight clubs, then go back to the soa again ,to bring liquor ashore for metropolitan merry-makers. But the revenue boats appear. Under machine-gun fire there .is a dash for the coast. , Then a girl. step 3 into -the plot. Twentieth century pirates step Aboard disguised as revenue men, solze tho . cargo, and the leader demands the girl as a hostage. A terrific Qgbt with fists, belajing- . pins, and even revolvers. settles tho dispute about the cargo of rum and romance. There is a good supporting programme. The King's Orchestra plays the overture "The Beautiful Calathea" (Suppo), and tho entr'acte "Parado of the Tin Soldiers" (Jessol). Adventure and romance are featured, in Crooks," which opens at the King's next Friday. The story has to do with tho itruggle of two men who are striving to turn over a new leaf after dabbling in the night life of New York. Robert Armstrong and Johnny Mack Brown are the two who find the load to honesty and freedom difficult. The supporting cast includes Dorothy Dawn, Dorothy Appleby, .Clarence Burton, Eddie Sturgis, lydia Dlckson,1 and Jackie Combs'. Lew Soller directed. . Tha second attraction on the programme Is ,• "I Will Repay," an adventurous <lrama of French Revolution days.
