In 1027 the Belgian Ministry of Finance collected £125,800 in taxes from gaming establishments which, according to law,are illegal. ■ Of this sum Brussels provided £31,450; Ostend, £85,750; and Spa, £8000. With miniature tides that rise and fall, a model of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay has been made by a Liverpool engineer. The tides move by mechanical means in true proportion to Nature, taking 120 seconds between high tides. A blind chameleon ceases to change its colour and remains dark in1 tint. The reason of this peculiarity has never been explained.
