DEATH OF MRS. C. M. LUKE
The many friends of Mr. C. M. Luke, chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board, will regret to hear that his wife, Mrs. Annie P. Luke, died at an early hour this morning. Mrs. Luke was a daughter of the late Mr. Samuel Pinny, farmer, of Motueka, and was born in. April, 1859. She married Mr. C. M. Luke in 18S0. Tire eldest daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Birks, died in 1923, the remaining family are: Mr» C. E. Luke, manager, Nivens, Ltd., Palmerston North; Mr. A. J.. Luke, of' Luke and Kennedy, solicitors; Dr. E. H. M. Luke, of Wellington; Mr. K. E. Luke, of the Qity Council engineering staff; and Mrs. Cunningham,' wife of Colonel Cunningham, WanganUi. During the period when Mr. C. M. Luke Was Mayor of Wellington, the late Mrs. Luke took a great interest in .civic work, and lias always assisted in the activities of the Plunkct and other similar societies. Her ■help iv this respect will be much missed by those associated with this class of social work. Mrs. Luke was in good health till about three months ago, since when she has been confined to her bed. The funeral Will ieavo tho residence, Coromandel street, to-morrow, at 2.15 p.m.
