THE WEATHER
STILL UNSETTLED The weather lias coiltiiiued to lie of a changeable and -unsettled nature, and light to moderate rain has fallen at times in nearly all districts. The winds have been mainly moderate from the West and north, but easterlies have prevailed about Foveaux Strait. There has been a slight rise in- pressure in tho South Island, but it is still everywhere below normal over tho New Zealand area. Apparently a. shallow depression iB still situated in the eastern Tasman Sea in front of an anti-cyclono covering eastern Australia. The forecast is for northerly winds north of Westport and Akaroa, backing to southerly later, and elsewhere north-east to east and lator southerly winds, moderate generally, but freshening. Tho weather is likely to bo still. changeable and unsettled, with scattered showers in most districts, but chiefly fine in tho eastern portions of the North Island. Cooler temperatures are expected. 1 .
