HARBOUR COLLISION
. NAUTICAL COURT'S FINDING (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 30th May. The nautical Court of Inquiry concerning tho collision between the collier Hikurangi and the scow Havoc (which was being towed by the launch Orere) in Waiteinata Harbour oh. tho night of 2nd April, delivered its finding to-day. The Court decided that the cause of tho casualty was that owing to the position of the master of the Hikurangi on his vessel, he did not have a good look-out, and did not see the lights, of the Havoc, as a look-out. in a favour' able position would have seen them. Further) the master of the Hikuraugi made an error of judgment in endeavouring to keep a course between what he took to be a vessel at anchor qr a vessel proceeding in the samo direction i and the shore, and in keeping his speed. In theso circumstances, the Court ordred Captain G. N. George, master of the Hikurangi, to pay three-quarters of the cost of tho inquiry, and the Harbour BoaVd, as Qwncrs of tho Havoc and Orere, to pay the remaining quar^ tcr. Captain George's certificate was returned to him. .
