KOROKORO AFFAIRS
A well-attendad meeting of householders was held at Korokoro last night to discuss several matters of interest to the district. There were present from the Petane Borough Council, the. Mayor (Mr. D. lllvenzie) and Councillors A. Scholeheld and W, H. Edwards. Mr. C. P. Brockclbank attended on behalf Of the Gas Board. -.The residents thought that some attention should be given to the question of lighting the .Domain and the- roads, the water''-.scheme, the proposed library, the' drainage of roads, and the rounding of certain corners. Various matters in connection with the preservation of the Domain were also brought up. Mr. M'Kenzie, in reply to. the residents, showed them the financial position and pointed put what they had obtained in comparison with what they had given. I lie general rate on unimproved property in the district brought in for the year ended March, 1028, £150 9s 3d, while the lighting rate amounted'to £14 4s 4d. The receipts thus totalled £170 13s 7d. Against this, £502 11s had been spent on Korokoro roads, and £ll&'lQs~bn the 33 lamps in the district; -,Of ~ the" -r'oading money,/.£105 45,4 d, had.been provided- for the council by way of .subsidies for. unemployment relief. ' This was a total of £018 Is spent oh Korokoro requirements. It was decided that a committee of householders should go into the-matter, and formulate their- proposals'-'in a ilmore concrete shape, to be presented to the Borough Council, either by. deputation or by requisition. ""'
