PROHIBITION PROSPECTS
i\fr. C. Todd, president .of the New Zealand Alliance, accompanied by Mrs...Toddy. is leaving for Australia Jin a fewrdays, and will represent tho Dominion;: at an Australian Alliance Congress. Mrj Todd was entertained at tea last eyening by the Standing Committee of the: Alliance. The Bey. W. Comrie presided. Short addresses were delivered by,the Hon. J. A. Young; Minister of Health; Mr. J. --•Combs, M.P., Mr. E. .. Dickson, M._., and the chairman. Tributes were paid to _Ir. Todd for the work he had done in connection with tlio objects of the Alliance, and tiie heartiest good wishes were extended to Mr. and -Mrs. Todd In the course of his reply, Mr* Todd Said he had studied the liquor question from every angle; he had been round the world twice, and from his observations while in America he was convinced that Prohibition in that country was 90 per cent, effective. When it was carried in New Zealand, it would be, more effective still. He felt certain that the next poll would show a large increase in the voting for Prohibition.
