MR. GLENN'S POSITION
"I should like to emphasise that consistent with a -member's election pledges, neither Mr. Massey ' nor Mr. Coates have even denied the right of criticism on the part of member Of. their party;" declared Mr. W. S. Glenn at Wanganui, in denying the report' from Auckland that ho was allied to the suggested farmers' political move-. ment. "On tho contrary, constructive criticism has always been welcom* ed," he said. "It is quite true that at times I havo exercised this right in j regard to certain proposals that have 'come before Parliament, and ■ having done so, especially in view of certain deductions having been drawn therefrom, I naturally took the obvious course in the circumstances arid called my election committee together to meet me. I fully explained my reasons for so doing, and they endorsed the-course of action which I had followed. "I have not deviated from my election pledges," concluded Mr. Glenn* "and I take this opportunity of stat« ing that it is my intention of contesting the Bangitikei seat at the coming General Election as a supporter of the Government, while still retaining that' degree of independence which I claim supporters of tho Government or any other Party are entitled to."
