THE TWO THOUSAND
WON BY" FLAMINGO (Received 3rd May, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd May. Following is the result of the TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS, a sweepstakes of 100 soys., with 2000 guineas added. For three-year-olds. Colts 9.0, fillies 8.9. One mile. Sir Lawrence Phillips 'sb c Flamingo, by Flamboyant—Lady Peregrine 1 Captain Gough's c Eoyal Minstrel, by Tetratema-—Harpsichord .i . 2 D. Sullivan's eh c o'Curry, by Abbott 's Trace—La Paloma 3 There were seventeen runners. Won by a head, a length and a half separating second and third. Lord Derby's Fairway, who waa strongly fancied, was scratched the day before the race owing to indisposition. His colt Pharamond ran, being placed fourth. Flamingo, according to the starting price cabled, must have been woll backed, while Eoyal Minstrel, who docs not appear to have run as a two-year-old, was, apparently favourite, judging by the price. 0 'Curry was one of the longodds brigade, despite the fact he had some decent form last year. Up to Ist October last year Flamingo started five times for three firsts, one second, and one fourth. No doubt these were his only outings. His most important victory was in the National Breeders' Produce Stakes at Sandown Park in July, in which he defeated a smart field. He is trained by J. Jaryis at Newmarket.
