Canada is,now interchanging more business with the United States than with any other nation, not excepting Great Britain. Canada is to-day America's best customer. ■ At one period of her history—before the war—Canada was pre-eminently an agricultural country. She is now pre-eminently a manufacturing country. Her manufactured products, are worth £700,000,000 a year. This is duo to the establishment of American branch plants in the Dominion. There are now IGOO of these branch plants. The year 1919 saw the birth of the new development. In that year 200 were established. This enormous flow of capital will continue, attracted by the wealth of Canada's undeveloped resources. The new copper lode at Flin Flow, in Northern Manitoba, lias been acquired by Mr. Harry Payne Whitney,. Now York,. who plans, to invest £8,000,000 in plant, railways, and,., subsidiary, industries .there. Other new" developments of nn expansive naturo that American capitalists are testing out are dehydrated potatoes in Prince Edwnrd Island (the best potato land in America), packing-house products in New Brunswick, tobacco in Ontario, and oil in Alberta.
