DUNEDIN WOOL SALE
HIGH PRICES STILL RULE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Bth.March. The third wool sale of the series was opened in Burns Hall last night and was continued to-day. The various brokers oifered catalogues totalling 27,325 bales. There was a- full attendance of buyers (•very seat on the benches was occupied), representing America, Britain, Europe, and Japan, and buyers for all the local mills. A large proportion of the". offering included clips which had been shorn for some time and which had arrived in Dunedin too late to be included in the last sale. The wools opened in splendid condition, and it can be said that some of the halfbreds and fine crossbreds offered this sale were in beautiful order. Some of the Southern Lakes district and back-, country wool was well grown, but being later shorn, showed much more condition. The hope formed by growers-that the sales would command the high prices obtained in other parts of the ■ Dominion were more than justified,-and under extremely good competition the prices! advanced %d to 2d per lb for good halfbreds, crossbreds, and good piece", compared wi£h rates ruling at the sales on Ist February. Great Britain lifted the greatest proportion of the catalogue, but Continental buyers were determined competitors and secured a fair share of the offering. America did noi buy much, the prices paid evidently being above her limits. Very •few lots were passed, and it can safely be said thai this Bale is'one of the best ever experienced in Otago, and again record prices 'for New Zealand this season were obtained.
